Peter Jander
Born in 1954, Peter Jander is one of South Africa’s most renowned Impressionists, although he modestly prefers to be known as a “landscape painter.”
With the exception of lessons on colour mixing methods with the highly acclaimed artist, Arthur Mant, Peter is completely self taught. He has been significantly influenced by the great Impressionists of the past. However, he has taken his version of impressionism onto an entirely new level and in keeping with the 21st Century. He has that essential ability to capture the fleeting impression of the given moment.
To date, he has held over 160 one man exhibitions as well as collaborate showings with Old Masters like the late Gabriel de Jongh, Errol Boyley and Eric Wale. He also exhibits regularly in the UK. In recent years Peter’s paintings have found their way into Ashbey’s Galleries Auction House in Cape Town and into the Bonhams Auction House in London.
